All-on-4 / Hybrid Dentures

All-on-4 / Hybrid Dentures are four-to-six dental implants which are surgically placed in your jaw with abutment screws. A denture is then screwed on top to replace your missing teeth.

This procedure provides much more comfort than traditional dentures. You’ll be able to eat and speak more clearly without worrying about the inconvenience and irritation that dentures often cause.

Who’s a Good Candidate for All-on-4 / Hybrid Dentures?

This procedure is designed for patients who have lost most or all of their teeth. If you need to replace less teeth, you may be a better candidate for dental implants.

Of course, it’s worth noting that every patient is different. That’s why it’s important to come to the office. Dr. Deweese will examine your mouth, explain the risks, and help you determine whether All-on-4 / Hybrid Dentures could be the right choice for you and your goals.

What to Expect from All-on-4 / Hybrid Dentures

The All-on-4 / Hybrid Dentures procedure typically takes a single day and only requires local anesthesia. We’ll use your existing denture or create a new one prior to the procedure, as this ensures you can leave our office with your new teeth.

Patients typically don’t experience significant discomfort, but pain relievers can be prescribed as necessary. For the first two weeks after the procedure, you will need to use a medicated mouth wash.

How long does it take to recover from the surgery?

While it is normal to experience discomfort for the first 5-7 days, the acute healing phase takes place in the first 24 to 48 hours after surgery. During this time your discomfort will be managed with pain medication such as Ibuprofen 800 mg and Extra Strength Tylenol. During the first week it is also completely normal to have swelling and bruising.

How often are more powerful pain medications necessary to manage pain?

Most patients do not require narcotic pain medication, however, we understand that everyone experiences pain differently. We engage in frequent conversation with patients after surgery, so if there is need for additional medication to manage recovery that can be discussed.

How much time will I need to take off work?

The average time we see patients take off work is 2-3 days depending on the nature of their occupation. Most of these surgeries take place toward the end of the week (Wednesday or Thursday) which can help minimize the total time away from work by utilizing the weekend.
