Dentures have been a reliable solution to extensive tooth loss for decades, but they can shift and fall while you talk and don’t protect the health of your jawbone. To provide a more stable and long-lasting solution, we securely attach a custom denture to hybrid dental implants.

This ensures you can eat and speak with confidence, knowing your denture will stay securely in place—enhancing your comfort and overall quality of life!

Understanding the Benefits of a Hybrid Denture

If you're missing one or multiple teeth, several treatment options can restore your smile, including single dental implants, bridges, and dentures. However, for extensive tooth loss, a more comprehensive solution—such as a hybrid denture—may provide the best results.

We create a strong, stable foundation for your new teeth by securing a custom denture to multiple dental implants. These dentures offer the best of both worlds—firmly attached yet removable—earning them the name 'hybrid' dentures.

This means you can eat and talk without worrying about them shifting or falling. Unlike traditional fixed dentures, they can be removed by a dentist for thorough cleanings and detailed dental exams.

Why Should You Consider a Fixed Hybrid Denture?

Hybrid dentures are ideal for patients who lack the bone in an arch to replace all their tooth roots without undergoing extensive bone augmentation surgery or for those who prefer a more cost-effective option than replacing all their teeth with implants.

In these cases, hybrid implant dentures are an alternative because they are held in place by only between four and six dental implants. For that reason, they’re also known as All-on-4® or All-on-6® dentures.

What to Expect from Hybrid Dentures?

Fixed hybrid dentures offer numerous advantages over traditional overdentures. You can eat and speak more comfortably, as they are much more secure than conventional dentures. Additionally, you won’t need to rely on sticky adhesives.

Hybrid dentures also reduce the soreness and discomfort often associated with removable dentures. They cover less of your mouth, allowing you to enjoy food flavors more fully, as the roof of your mouth and some of your gums remain exposed.

Most importantly, they help prevent further jawbone deterioration. After tooth loss, the jawbone naturally begins to lose density. A tooth’s roots stimulate and nourish the jawbone, so bone recession—known as resorption—can occur when they're missing.

Implants help stop, and in some cases reverse, this process by providing artificial tooth roots, preserving your oral health for years to come.

How’s the Process for Hybrid Dental Implants?

The process of getting a hybrid denture is very similar to getting implants.

First, we will conduct an initial consultation to assess your oral health and the state of your jawbone to determine if you’re a candidate for this treatment. To do so, diagnostic imaging and impressions will be taken, allowing us to analyze the situation in detail and create a personalized treatment plan.

Then, we’ll schedule an appointment for the implant placement. Afterwards, we must wait for a process known as osteointegration to take place. This allows the titanium post to fuse with your natural jawbone, ensuring the proper attachment of your new denture.

During this time, we will also customize your hybrid denture, which can take 2-3 weeks. We will schedule a fitting appointment when your mouth has healed, and the final restoration is ready.

Finally, we’ll schedule a follow-up visit to address any concerns and make necessary adjustments, ensuring optimal comfort and performance of the hybrid denture.

Are You a Candidate for a Hybrid Denture?

To get hybrid dentures, you need to have:
- Sufficient jawbone density
- Healthy gums

If you don’t meet these conditions, we offer several treatments to improve your suitability for hybrid dental implants.

For instance, if your jawbone density is insufficient, a bone grafting procedure may be recommended. Similarly, gum recession can be treated with soft tissue grafting.

These are just some of the options we can discuss if you lack adequate bone density. If we determine that dental implants are not the best option for you, we will recommend an appropriate alternative tooth replacement solution.
